Each version compliments the other quite nicely, and Ship to Shore encourages the listener to decide which is better.

In the words of Retronauts' Jeremy Parish, "Does the jittery mechanical intensity of the arcade arrangement feel more complete to you? Or do you prefer the slightly more laid-back richness created by the quirky Super NES sound chip? Super Famicom. Smash Up! First the original Gradius. Indeed this one has simple music and the tracks aren't looped many times, and are short. But I would've liked to hear some tunes looped more. Tracks are short and are looped twice.

  1. Ship to Shore PhonoCo. is proud to present, for the first time on vinyl, the soundtrack to Konami's classic shoot-em-up GRADIUS III. Now emboldened by new hardware by way of the newly released Super Nintendo Entertainment System, GRADIUS III represents the Konami Kukeiha Club first foray into bit bigband.fivegallonbucket.netinfo of the gate, they proved that they were the masters of the form.
  2. Gradius III (Original Soundtrack) by Konami Kukeiha Club. by new hardware by way of the newly released Super Nintendo Entertainment System, GRADIUS III represents the Konami Kukeiha Club first foray into bit territory. Right of the gate, they proved that they were the masters of the form. Dead End Cell. SIDE D (Arcade) 1. Fire.
  3. Commercial (2 Vinyl) published by Ship to Shore PhonoCo. on Dec containing original soundtrack from Gradius III with compositions by Konami Kukeiha Club.
  4. Overview. Gradius III is often regarded as the pinnacle of the classic series musically and otherwise. Led by returnee Miki Higashino, its score was filled with charming old-school melodies and creative stage themes. Gradius II's Motoaki Furukawa wasn't involved with this score because he had transferred from Konami's sound design room to their CD production section.
  5. The quality of arrangements has some spirit of old Konami Kukeiha Club stuff. Gradius III on disc 2 is like candy in a box. The tunes are "tune per track", and not merged tracks like on Gradius III OST. The length of tracks is the same as on the out of print Gradius III OST. The low point of Gradius Arcade Soundtrack is definitely Gradius IV.
  6. The B-Side contains the lesser known soundtrack to the spin-off GRADIUS 2 for the MSX computer. Only released in Japan (and in Europe as NEMESIS 2), this version of the soundtrack is a completely different beast than the Famicom counterpart. Containing deep, humming synth lines that are more in line with the Konami Kukeiha Club’s arcade output.
